Price/Magna, UT-Donald Jay Justesen, age 82, passed away July 5, 2014 of complications from diabetes. He was the only child of Justen A. and Virginia Hansen Justesen who was born in Salt Lake City at the old St. Marks Hospital on May 22, 1932.
Donald attended Cyprus High, University of Utah and the University of Houston. He worked as a mining engineer, then as mine superintendent for the Ray Mines Division in Arizona. He later was a power plant superintendent at the Huntington Power Plant. He was a dedicated employee of Kennecott Copper and Utah Power & Light.
Married his childhood sweetheart Carol Starr Cromar in Magna, Utah on August 13, 1951; their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa LDS Temple in 1969. Together they raised four children, three boys and one girl in Utah and Arizona. Don and Carol taught their children independence, honesty, hard work, thirst for learning and service to others. All four children graduated college. The boys graduated from BYU and all three served LDS missions. Lisa graduated from USU. Don loved to read, fish, travel the world, fossil hunting and driving his corvette and jeep.
Survived by his loving wife, Carol Justesen, Price; three sons and one daughter, Brad (Janet) Justesen, Gilbert, Arizona, Bryce (Annette) Justesen, Mesa, Arizona, Lisa (Stephen) Henderson, Vernal, David (Debbie) Justesen, Granite Bay, California; 17 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren, with four more on the way. Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service, Saturday, July 12, 2014, 11:00 a.m., Price North LDS Stake Center (449 North 100 East, Price). Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery (200 N Street, Salt Lake City) at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Don online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
