DIETERICH, KATHRYN Kathryn M. "Pat" Dieterich, of Prudenville, age 92, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Gross Assisted Living in Clio. Funeral services will be held at 6 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Bruce Black Officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 PM until the time of service at 6PM. Burial in Riverside Cemetery in Cleveland, OH on Monday, July 14, 2014. Contributions may be made to Grace Hospice or Roscommon County Animal Shelter. Kathryn was born on November 7, 1921 in Cleveland, OH to the late George and Enola (MacKenzie) Shannon. She graduated from John Marshall High School and received her secretarial training at Wilcox School of Commerce. During WWII, she worked as a secretary to the adjutant in the executive offices and the Board of Awards and Salvage, US Army Ordinance in Cleveland. Pat married George G. Dieterich on April 29, 1944. They came to Prudenville on May 1, 1954, where they owned and operated Dieterich's Resort. He preceded her in death in 1992. Pat had a secretarial career spanning 40 years. Mrs. Dieterich had served the Houghton Lake Schools since 1959. She served briefly as an elementary secretary in the spring of 1959, prior to moving to the superintendent's office on August 15, 1959; where she was secretary to Dr. Gil Edson, Donald Meyer, James McGuire and John Walkley. She retired in 1982. Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prudenville. She leaves behind: children, Maureen (James) Carney of Clio, Elaine (David) Jansen of Grayling, George W. (Dana) Dieterich of Davisburg; grandchildren, Nicholas S. (Teresa) Carney, (Christopher T., deceased) (Christy) Carney, Heather N.(Robert) Salsbury, Kevin P. (Carey) Jansen, Kelly P. (Caleb) Townsend, Derek W. (Rhonda) Dieterich, William G. (Kathryn) Dieterich; great-grandchildren, Luke, Grace, Oscar, Xavier, Bryce, Easton, Greyson and Amelia; half-brother, James (Bonnie) Goss of OH. Elaine and David, I was sorry to see the passing of Elaine'a mother. My sympathy to your family. I just recently moved back into the Flint area and saw this in the Journal today. I was Elainw'a roommate at CMU.
