Mary Ellen Hamilton
CHILLICOTHE: Mary Ellen Hamilton, 92, died at 10:35pm July 9, 2014, at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
She was born January 31, 1922, in Columbus, OH to the late James and Margaret (Souders) Speaks. On October 12, 1940, she married William J. Hamilton, who preceded her in death September 29, 1998.
Mary is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Esther (Dave) Hawk; Phyllis (Delbert) Ashworth, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Brenda (Todd) Snyder; Mark (Sally) Ashworth; Lonnie (Jamie) Hawk; Scott (Rachel) Ashworth; Christina (Jason) Arms; great-grandchildren: Justin Allen Ashworth; Justin Ray Ashworth; Caitlyn Snyder; Christian Snyder; Trent Ashworth; Corissa Ashworth; Alicia Arms; Alexis Arms; Austin Arms; Courtney Ashworth; Aubrey Arms; a great-great-grandchild Lyrics Kellough; a sister-in-law Kathryn Speaks; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special loved ones Bridget Cockrell and family; Marilyn Bartley; and Mandy Lump.
She was predeceased by daughters Patricia and Nancy Hamilton; brothers Joseph and Norman Speaks; and 2 great-grandsons Dallas and Delbert Ashworth.
Mary was a member of New Hope Church of God and member of Concerned Citizens for Handicapped since 1978. She was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for those she loved. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed attending the Paint Valley Jamboree on Saturday nights.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Monday, July 14, at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 5-7pm at Haller's.

Mary was a very strong women, not to people could have gone through what she did through the years and remain strong. I always admired her for taking care of her husband and daughter the way she did. I remember going to her house with Deb and Phylis. I always felt welcomed and enjoyed being there. God has a wonderful angel with him now
