Evelyn Dobberstein
Evelyn Martha Dobberstein, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Century Oaks in Oshkosh surrounded by her family. She was born on July 25, 1921 in Dale, Wisconsin to Owen and Emma Peterson. Evelyn was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dale and graduated from Appleton High School in 1939. She married Hugo Dobberstein, the love of her life on April 22, 1941. She was a devoted, loving wife and the catalyst for Hugo's recovery from serious injuries sustained during WWII. He preceded her in death after 66 years of marriage in June 2007. They were blessed with four daughters: Faye (David) Leatherman of Oshkosh; Beth Garcia of Neenah; Jan (Raymond) Ross of Newton; and Dawn (Kevin) Bunnow of Appleton. Evelyn leaves behind nine grandchildren: Peter (Michelle) Leatherman, Tim (Nicole) Leatherman, Bradley (Dawn) Garcia, Jason (Heather) Garcia, Matthew (Misty) Ross, John(Samantha) Ross, Mark (Kimberly)Ross, Kyle (Allison) Bunnow, and Dana (Darrin) Dahms; she had ten great-grandchildren: Justin and Anna Leatherman, Gwen and Paige Leatherman, Bradley Garcia, Emma Garcia, Owen and expected baby Girl Bunnow and Layla and Nolan Dahms, her sister: Dorothy Cornelius of Willard, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Her great granddaughter Stella Grace, her parents and many dear relatives preceded her to eternal life. Evelyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton for many years. She loved little children and babies. She enjoyed watching the Brewers, playing cards, traveling, and Kitty, her constant feline companion.
The Christian Funeral for Evelyn will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at ETERNAL LOVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1011 E. Midway Rd., Appleton with Rev Robert Balza officiating. Interment will be at Dale Union Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

The daughters wish to acknowledge the tender loving care she received from Jen, Deb, Sabrina, Becky, and special friend Janet. Evelyn and Hugo will be dining with Bud and Nola at God's banquet from now on. A great lady. My childhood was more delightful due to her smiles and caring.
