ALICE W. KING

EATON — Alice W. King, 95, of Eaton, passed away Wednesday morning, July 16, 2014, following an extended illness.

Born March 4, 1919 in Cambridge, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Chloe (Fisher) Barnes. Before, during and after WW II, she worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell in Zanesville. She was a member of the United Brethren Church in Harper, and most recently attended the Eaton Baptist Temple. In the 1970s and 1980s, she was a member of the Herd of Turtles Kazoo Band in Eaton.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Ralph Barnes.

Alice is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years Arthur L. King, whom she married Dec. 19, 1944; sons & daughters-in-law David L. & Diana King of Eaton; Robert E. & Daisy King of Huntsville, Ohio; Michael A. & Betty King of Chapin, South Carolina; Ralph P. & Robin King of Eaton; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 19, at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, with Pastor Lowell T. Spencer presiding. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Burial was at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
