Neil Helmkay
Neil Helmkay was born December 1, 1926 in Zelma, SK. He passed away on July 21, 2014 in Saskatoon, SK. Neil was the second son born to William and Janet Helmkay. Left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Brenda (Peter) Hennessey and their children, James, Janelle and Jonathon of Saskatoon, SK; son, Bruce (Joanne) Helmkay and their children, Robert and Scott of Colonsay,SK; three nieces, Shirley (Del) McEwen and family of Saskatoon, SK, Sandra Black and family of Edmonton, AB, Ruth (Ira Robinson) McDonald of Victoria, BC; and nephews, Jack (Nadine) McDonald of Saskatoon, SK, Keith (Marlene) Marshall of Moose Jaw, SK, Leslie (Bernadine) Marshall of West Bank, BC, Robert (Marcia) Marshall of Big Beaver, SK, Art (Linda) Marshall of Moose Jaw, SK, Ron (Ann) Marshall of Saskatoon, SK and their families. Neil was predeceased by his parents, William and Janet Helmkay; his loving wife, Maureen; brother, Russell; sisters, Grace, Hazel, Vera, Irene and Jean; and nephews, Jim MacDonald, Stuart MacDonald, Don MacDonald and Harold Marshall. A very special thank you goes to the St. Paul's Palliative Care staff for their care and comfort. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stensrud Lodge (2202 McEown Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L6).

I never met Neil but I did meet Jean, Brenda, and Bruce. I also talked to Sandra..and we figured out how we are connected in the Helmkay family tree.
