Mary L. (Daniels) Hazen

CANAAN, NH – Mary L. Hazen (104) passed away quietly on the evening of Tuesday, July 23rd at Genesis Healthcare Center in Lebanon, NH.

Born December 11, 1909, the daughter of Bertha (Pratt) and Joseph LaBreck of Braintree, MA. She attended schools in Weymouth, MA and was married to Frank S. Daniels and Roy S. Hazen who both predeceased her.

Mary’s accomplishments over the years are too numerous to include but some folks remember her as the Food Service Director for the Mascoma School District, the Master of the Indian River Grange, and as the quilt lady. Some even remember her from when she and her husband, Roy, grew and sold strawberries in Canaan. Besides being a great friend, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother (to five generations) she will be missed by all but had a great life.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary L. Gove and husband, Paul of Grafton; her son, Frank Daniels and wife Debbie of Newport; and stepson Allen Hazen of Florida. Grandchildren: Paul Alan Gove of Enfield; Barbara and husband Douglas Belloir of West Canaan, NH; John Clay and wife Judy of Weymouth, MA; Dale Clay of Corinth, ME. Local great-grandchildren include: Cheryl and husband Edmund Tourville; Jill Gove; Cassie and husband Aaron Johns; Kenneth and Lise Daniels all of Canaan; Glenn and wife Carol Daniels of Hopkinton; Michael and wife Emily of Korea; Kristen and wife Kim Daniels of Northfield; Karen Ganzel of Belmont; Justine Gregory of Plymouth, MA; Wayne Clay of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; Todd Clay of Weymouth, MA. Local great-great-grandchildren, Matthew & Timothy Tourville, Dylan Johns and Brandon & Justin Daniels, Adam Daniels, Garreth, Rayna Eira Solbeck; Connor Daniels, Katie & Ben Daniels of Washington. Along with numerous other great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren located all over the country.

She was predeceased by her stepdaughter, Vera Clay of Weymouth, MA a grandson, Mark Daniels of Orange and a great-grandson, Christopher Daniels of Danbury.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, July 26th at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon from 3-5 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
