Elmer W. "Bill" Perkins, 79, of Iroquois passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Wellbrooke of Avon in Indianapolis, IN.
Bill was born February 14, 1935 in Brook, IN, the son of Denver and Thelma Duttenhaver Perkins and they preceded him in death in addition to one brother, Don Perkins and one sister, Eleanor Perkins. He married Mary Ann Bower in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1970. He later married Rozeal "Jane" Baker Faupel on November 20, 1971 and she preceded him in death on May 20, 2014.
He is survived by 6 children, Steve Perkins, Daphne (Mike) High of Danville, IL, Jeff Perkins, Cindy (Dean) Shearer of Churubusco, IN, Julie Perkins Grant and Scott (Karen) Perkins of Danville, IN; one sister, Merlene King of Kentland, IN; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Perkins was proud to have served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. Bill taught mathematics for many years before becoming a Superintendent at various schools in Illinois and Indiana. He enjoyed gardening and working in the yard outdoors.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon. Burial will be in the Goodland Cemetery in Goodland, IN with military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon.
Memorials may be made to ICARE Animal Shelter in Iroquois, Concord Twp. Fire & Rescue or Iroquois United Methodist Church.
