SHARON WEBER Obituary

WEBER SHARON WILSON WEBER Sharon Wilson Weber, 67, of Millwood, Virginia, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 in INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Virginia. Mrs. Weber was born February 10, 1947 in Schenectady, New York, daughter of Thomas Wilson and Beryl Cooke Wilson. She graduated from Waynesboro High School, attended Ferrum College and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1970 with a Bachelor in Science in Math Education; later received a Masters in Science in Education from George Mason University. She began her Virginia teaching career in Floyd County, then Spotsylvania County, and for many years she taught at Osbourn Park High School in Prince William County. At Osbourn Park, she served as a much respected chair of the math department for many years. Sherry loved teaching and the daily interaction with her high school students. Her ability to inspire a love of math motivated her students to bake "math" cakes and write "math" songs to illustrate the latest mathematical principles they had learned. Sherry had a passion for horses which began with her daughter, Emily, who was an accomplished eventer, getting her start in Pony Club. She spent countless hours taking Emily to Pony Club lessons, training sessions, and competitions, and often helping with homework in the truck by flashlight on their way home. Sherry went on to ride herself and later pursued her equine passion in partnership with Sharon White of Last Frontier Farm. She was named The Professional Riders Organization owner of the year in 2013, donating the cash award to the Millbrook Horse Trials, which honored her at its event on the weekend of August 2-3, 2014. She served the local equine community for a number of years as the secretary of the Clarke County Equine Alliance. In addition to her passion for horses, she along with her husband, developed Viewmont Farm in Millwood, VA which included a small horse boarding business and award winning commercial hay production. She had a lifelong passion for the joys of farming and animals, which she shared with her family and friends. One of her real joys was trail riding on her horse, Dandy, with her husband. Sherry's dream was to have a Rolex horse and she saw that come true when her amazing horse, Patch that she co-owns with Sharon White, successfully competed at the Rolex International 3-day event in Lexington, KY this spring. Rolex is the highest level combined training equestrian event in the United States. This October, she had plans to travel to France to see her horse compete at the PAU 3-day Eventing Horse Show, Les Etoiles de Pau, the final event in the calendar of the World Eventing Cup. She loved to travel with her husband around the world with a focus on wildlife. She visited South Africa, Australia, Alaska, Canada, England, Honduras, Belize, Ireland, The Galapagos Islands, Tanzania, and most recently, Namibia. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard S. Weber; her mother of Stuarts Draft, VA; two daughters, Julie Weber of California and Emily Weber Johnson and her husband, Josh, and their children, Colton, 5, and Kylie, 1, all of Boyce, VA; and a brother, Charles Wilson of Jacksonville, FL. Due to her close proximity in Boyce, she was able to spend many hours with her beloved grandchildren whom she adored. Her time with Colton and Kylie was the most treasured hours of her week. In addition to her love of family, she was a friend to many in the community with special relationships with the equine community. She was always available for them and for any reason. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Blue Ridge Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship: BRCTH, PO. Box 438, Boyce, VA 22620. Shari was always generous and kind. She knew that teachers worked harder for people they loved, and it definitely was easy to love her. She was understanding, hard working and someone I think about often. I hope to emulate her skills as a manager and a motivator one day. I am hopeful that my continued teaching journey will make her proud. I feel like she is one of the angels watching over me...and I still hear her words of wisdom in my head every day. I find myself repeating many of the things that she said to me, because they are lessons and wisdom that will last a lifetime. I miss you Shari. I hope you are riding horses in heaven...I hope you see some of our other friends who have left us...and most of all, I hope you know how much I love and appreciate you.

We shared so many of life's ups and downs: welcoming children into the world, watching friends fall in love and get married, losing loved ones, getting sick and getting healthy again, working at OP, yearly Christmas get-togethers, Halloween costumes and trick or treating with the kids....I can't believe you're gone, Sherry. My love and prayers to Rick, Julie, Emily and all the rest of the family

Sheri was one of the most loving, generous, wisest and insightful friends in this world. As our Dept. Chair, she had the right answers even before we asked our questions or shared our problems. Her wisdom and love shown to all---students, colleagues, friends, and family offered constant comfort and security through the good and bad times. There will never be another like Sheri but all of can strive to live the legacy she left for each of us. I wish peace and comfort to all in Sheri's world.
