Jan. 28, 1924 - Aug. 25, 2014
Florence Virginia Boes, 90, of Vacaville, passed away peacefully on Aug. 25, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Cattolica, Emilia/ Romagna, Italy to Guerrino and Ernesta (Pellegrini) Leardini. At the very young age of six weeks, her family brought her to America, immigrating through Ellis Island and eventually settling in Crockett. She attended schools in Crockett, graduating from John Swett High School. Upon graduation, she began work at Mare Island Naval Shipyard where she met the love of her life, her husband of 67 years, Fred Boes, Jr.
She and her husband lived in Vallejo with their children until 1963. While in Vallejo, she was a member of the Minnehaha Council, No. 1 Degree of Pochontas. They moved to Vacaville in August of 1963 and later became members of the Sons Of Italy. She and her friends participated in bowling leagues and a monthly Pedro Club.
Among her many interests, she especially enjoyed square dancing, going to the horse races, attending SF Giants games and going to Cache Creek. She also enjoyed exercising, especially yoga, reading, family campouts, baking and entertaining her family and friends including hosting many bridal and baby showers and birthday parties.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred (2010); a son, Fred Stanley Boes and brother, Leo Leardini. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Allen) Parenteau and Pamela Boes; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeremy) Moseley, Kristen (Claudiu) Cioloca, Karin (Justin) Pacheco and Kent Boes (girlfriend, Hayley Apaseo); 12 great grand-children, Nicholas and Tate Moseley, Brittney and Brandon Murchie, Claudia Cioloca, Kaylan, Katerina, Karissa and George Lay, Joey, Justin and Kristopher Pacheco; one great great granddaughter, Karina Espino; several nieces and nephews; many friends and her cat, Phoofey.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Kaiser Hospital for the wonderful and passionate care that she and our family received.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, with the saying of the Rosary at 6 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m., at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 350 Stinson Ave., Vacaville, followed by burial at the Vacaville / Elmira Cemetery.
