Richard Simmons Obituary

Mr. Richard E. Simmons, age 63, of Winder, Georgia, passed away August 27, 2014, in Monck's Corner, South Carolina. A native of Statesboro, Georgia, he was a son of the late Virgil and Sara Helen Lee Simmons. He received an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Georgia and later received a master's degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech. In 1989, he founded Simmons' Industrial Electronics, serving the southeastern United States, providing automated controls for the ready-mixed concrete industry.
Surviving are wife, Nancy S. Simmons of Winder, Georgia; children, Sara Virginia Simmons of Atlanta, Georgia, and Rikki Lyn Simmons of Savannah, Georgia; brother, Randy Simmons of Statesboro, Georgia; and sister, Pat Ray of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina.
The family will receive visitors Sunday, August 31, 2014, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to The Schnauzer Love Rescue, 1356 Stonecrest Drive, Birmingham, Alabama 35235.
