Chambers Richard "Dick" Chambers, of Columbus, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born July 11, 1932, he was a graduate of Grove City High School. He was a Veteran and a Sgt. In the United States Marine Corp in which he played trumpet in the Marine Corp. band. He worked over 30 years in the transportation industry as a road driver and retired from C.W. Transport. In his retirement - he drove a school bus for Westerville City and Columbus City Schools. Preceded in death by Parents Carl Sr. and Mabel Lucille (Rambo) Chambers, brothers Carl Jr. (Bud) and Robert Chambers. Survived by wife of 37 years, Lynda; children from a previous marriage, daughter, Beverly; and son, John; granddaughter, Johnette (Richard) Morehouse; with great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Maria) Chambers; and many nieces and nephews. Dick was a member of Genoa Baptist Church in which he loved singing in the Choir. He was a member and Past Master of Grove City Lodge #689 F.&A.M.; West Gate Chapter #216 R.A.M., West Gate Council #129 R.& S.M., and a Past Patron of Grove City Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #502, in which he served three times. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Columbus #11. He also enjoyed being with the camera crew for the former WSFJ-TV program "Moving on with Jim and Ron" with Pastor Jim Meacham of Grace Chapel Community Church, Westerville, and Pastor Ron Davis of Warsaw, OH. Prior to his illness he was working part time for Manheim Auto Auction. Dick loved the Lord Jesus Christ and enjoyed singing hymns and praise songs. He also enjoyed the Pulse Exercise group at the YMCA as well as the game of golf. He belonged in golf leagues at Pine Hills and loved golfing at Minerva Golf Club. He was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball. Dick always had a positive attitude on all situations and always made everyone he came in contact feel at ease. He never knew a stranger. He loved being with people. He will be sadly miss by us all - he is now at home and at peace and we will rejoice when we can see him again in Heaven. A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, OH 43085 with Pastor, Wayne Booth, Officiating. Burial will follow in Mifflin Township Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with Masonic Funeral Rites at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Genoa Baptist Church Choir, 7562 Lewis Center Road, Westerville, OH 43082, or Westerville Area Resource Ministry, 150 Heatherdown Drive, Westerville, OH 43081, or Ohio Health Hospice, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43214.

Lynda, "your Angel" is now truly one in Heaven and watching over you from above. I know you will miss his physical presence but take comfort in knowing he will always be apart of you -- apart of your life -- and just a thought away because the love you two shared lasts forever.

Dick was a classmate, friend, and played in the Grove City Marching Band, Concert Band, and Orchestra with me. I am sure that he has gone on to the better place that he worked so hard to get to.
