Mark Snyder Obituary

Snyder, Mark E. Sr. WYNANTSKILL Mark E. Snyder Sr., 61, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2014, at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Troy on December 22, 1952, he is the loving son of Doris R. Murphy Snyder of Troy and the late George W. Snyder. Mark was raised in Troy and was a 1971 graduate of Troy High School and a 1973 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in electrical construction. He was employed by Drome Sound in Albany as a salesman and repairman. He then went on the road throughout the United States and played guitar with his brother-in-law's show band, Tommy and the Originals. After returning home, he was employed by the Freihofer Baking Company in Albany as an electrician for 13 years before retiring. Mark was very active with the Knights of Columbus and was a third degree member of the Latham K of C 3394, Looney Assembly, where he was a faithful navigator and later at the Rensselaer K of C 1950, Riley Assembly, where he was acting faithful comptroller. Mark loved to play his guitar and also was a licensed photographer. His greatest joy in life was being a family man and spending time with his grandchildren. He is the beloved husband of 39 years of Patricia P. McGrath Snyder; devoted father of Beverly P. (Craig) Wojtaszek of Wynantskill, Tonya P. McIntyre of West Sand Lake, Mark E. (Amy) Snyder Jr. of Schenectady, and Thomas G. (Renee) Snyder of Cohoes; proud grandfather of C.J. and Alexandra Wojtaszek, Marissa and Morgan McIntyre and the late Tyler McIntyre, Marli Gainor, Griffin and Hailey Snyder, Troy and Mia Snyder; dear brother of Donna (late Ronald) Bidwell of Troy, Mary Lou (Jeff) Dunn of Seminole, Fla., and the late George W. "Billy" Snyder and David M. Snyder. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and his faithful dog, Simba. The funeral will be on Monday, September 15, 2014, at 9:15 a.m., from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, and at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
