Donald F. Riggs July 4, 1940 - Sept. 12, 2014 NILES - Donald F. Riggs, age 74 years, of Niles died on Friday, September 12, 2014 at his home. He was born July 4, 1940 in Sedgwick, Arkansas to Andrew Jackson and Lucille (Fortner) Riggs. Donald worked for the meat department at Hank's Grocery Store in Roseland for over 35 years. He was a regular for coffee at the Bell Plaza restaurant in Niles and was known for his great sense of humor. Donald spent much of his time working in the yard, especially riding on his tractor mower. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing in his younger years. Donald is survived by a sister, Delois (& Ronald Baldwin) Whetstone of Niles and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Maxie Riggs, Gene Riggs and Bobby Riggs; and one sister, Catherine Boyce. Funeral services for Donald F. Riggs will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church in Niles with the Rev. Randy Pearman of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Berrien Center, Michigan. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the church.
