Margaret Harvey Obituary

STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Margaret Geraldine ""Nana"" Owens Harvey, age 77, passed away Tuesday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was born in Savannah, Ga., to the late James and Ouida Owens. Margaret was a graduate of Savannah High School and Armstrong State College.
Margaret retired from Palmer & Cay/Carswell following 21 years of service as an account manager. She was most proud of her primary account, which was the National Girl Scouts of America, having been a Girl Scout herself & troop leader for her daughters.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah for many years. As well as teaching fourth grade Sunday School, she was also very active in the Women's Mission Union. She moved to Statesboro in 2001 and transferred her membership to Statesboro First Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Alathean Sunday School Class and the Senior Adult Choir.
Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Harvey; a son, William ""Jerry"" Acker; and a sister, Shirley Wilder.
Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy Proctor of Rincon, Elizabeth and Greg Webb and Suzanne Acker, all of Statesboro; and a sister and two brothers-in-law, Harriett and Jimmy Ray and John Wilder, all of Swainsboro. She was a loving grandmother to Ryan Tucker, Nicole Acker, Jamie (Kyle) Francis and Jessica Webb. Additional survivors include her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Sandra Harvey of Prattville, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Statesboro First Baptist Church with Dr. John Waters officiating.
The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
The graveside service and burial will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah.
Pallbearers will be David Ray, Marty Ray, Andy Ray, Stephen Ray and Kyle Francis.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alathean Sunday School Class.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Statesboro First Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 North Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458; Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459; or Alzheimer's Association (Coastal Region), 201 Television Circle, Savannah, GA 31406.

Cindy, Elizabeth and Suzanne: I am so
sorry to hear about your Mom. You did
such a wonderful job in taking care of her.

I will not be able to attend the funeral. Charlie has something at
church at the same time. My thoughts
and prayers are with you. She is at
peace now and will forever watch over
all of you. Judy Harris
