PEORIA - Dalton C. McKinney, 77, of Peoria passed away at 3:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at The Heights Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 9, 1937, in Elizabethtown, Ky., to William and Carrie (Kidd) McKinney. He married Edith Kneebone in Morton on April 21, 1973. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Heather McKinney of Peoria; and his pet dog, Oreo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delbert; half brother, Glen; and half sister, Nelda.
Dalton was a graduate of Manual High and Bradley University in Peoria.
He worked as an accountant at Tazewell Publishing for many years and as the comptroller for Jumers Castle Lodge for 41 years before retiring.
He loved to collect rocks, study astronomy, read and go on trips out West.
He was a member of the Peoria Church of Latter-day Saints.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria, with the Rev. Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services on Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following services, with burial of ashes at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.

Dalton and I attended Manual and BradleyUniversity and were close while in school. It is sad to learn of his passing and always thought of him as a good friend even though I did not live in Peoria. Dalton was a very caring friend.
