Irwin Raymond Fleishauer, age 90, of Lynden, WA, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior September 11, 2014. Irwin was born October 2, 1923 in Bakersfield, CA, the eldest child of Charles and Sarah Fleishauer. Raised in Bakersfield, he graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1941 and married Georgia Dean Neufeld in 1944. Together they built a successful hay hauling business, later farmed cotton and alfalfa, and after moving to Anacortes, WA in 1981, established Island Weed and Insect Control. Irwin loved golfing at Peaceful Valley, Sumas, WA, camping, boating, gardening and woodworking. Touring with Abbotsford's Central Heights Church Jubilee Choir was a highlight. Many cherished memories were created over the years with his family in Bakersfield, CA, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren from BC, Canada. He is preceded in death by his wife and "sweetie" Georgia Dean, sister Charlene Kroeker, parents Charles and Sarah Fleishauer. He is survived by one son, Gary and daughter-in-law, Margaret, three grandchildren: Joshua (Charmaine) Fleishauer, Krista (Prince) Mbansi, and Cheya (Allan) Grant as well as great grandchildren: Isaac, Jakob and Xavier Fleishauer, Prince Jr., and Alexis, Eden, Isaiah and Parker Grant, and many beloved nieces and nephews in California. Irwin's final home was Meadow Greens, Lynden, WA, where he enjoyed the friendly staff, the golf course view, and sitting in his chair, singing hymns. A time of visitation will be at Gillies Funeral Home, on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 10:00am to 12:00 pm followed by a graveside service in Sumas Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
