1926-2014 B. Ira Landrith died September 23, in Huntsville, Alabama. He was born in El Dorado, Kansas, earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas, and taught for one year at the Kansas State School for the Blind. He joined the FBI in 1952 and became a Special Agent, serving in Louisville, Philadelphia, New York City, and Oklahoma City. After leaving the Bureau, he was employed by Sperry Rand Corporation in Salt Lake City, and transferred to Huntsville to help open Sperry's new Space Support Division in 1965. In the 1970s, Mr. Landrith helped create, and for a time directed, the North Alabama Police Academy at Calhoun College. He retired in 1993 from the Provost Marshall's Office of the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal. Mr. Landrith was a long-time member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and supporter of CASA and Habitat for Humanity. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Landrith, and daughter Patricia Landrith Blackman. No services are planned. Memorials may be made to CASA or Habitat for Humanity. I was so sorry to read of Mr. Landrith's demise. I worked with him at Sperry and always had the greatest respect for him.
