Kathleen Ann Walker CHARLESTON - Ms. Kathleen Ann Walker, 57, of Charleston, SC died on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Hanahan, South Carolina. She was born on Tuesday, November 27, 1956 in Ft. Stewart, GA to James E. Walker, Sr. and the late Mrs. Irene Margaret Kuba Walker. Kathy was educated at Clemson University and was employed at MUSC as a laboratory microbiologist. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while working on her PHD in Virology. She was a confirmed bachelorette until she met her prince charming, Mr. Paul Fortuna, whom she married and resided within the Triangle area of Avondale. Kathleen and Paul traveled extensively and had an appreciation of many styles of beer. She was an avid reader, animal lover, and a doting Aunt. Her family remembers her as extremely academically gifted and she never shied from stating an opinion. Kathy is survived by her father, James Edward Walker Sr., Charleston, SC; four brothers, James Edward Walker Jr. and his wife Cindy, of Fuquay Varina, NC, John Michael Walker and his wife Shirley, of Newburg, IN, Robert Patrick Walker and his wife Shelly, of New Castle, OK, and Christopher Andrew Walker and his wife Sarah, of Mandeville, LA; sister, Judith Elaine Boyd and her husband Allen, of Parkton, NC, many nieces, nephews, loving cousins and her dog "Sammy". Kathy is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Fortuna and her mother, Irene Margaret Walker.
