Jamrosz
WHITESBORO
Teophil "Tommy" Jamrosz, 92, of Whitesboro, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014, at the Lutheran Home, after a brief illness. His son was beside him at his passing. Tommy was born on September 20, 1922, in New York Mills, the son of Jozef and Rozalia W. Jamroz. He attended New York Mills public schools and worked in the Dyehouse of the Number 3 Mill. Before graduating, he left high school to serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He served in the American, European and Asiatic-Pacific Campaigns. Upon returning to civilian life, he obtained his GED and worked as a carpenter. On May 7, 1949, Tommy married Nancy J. Constantine in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Whitesboro. She passed away on August 30, 2009. He worked as a civilian carpenter in the carpentry shop of the 416 Civil Engineering Squadron at Griffiss Air Force Base from 1951 until his retirement as shop foreman in 1990. He was proud to have been awarded a citation for 43 years of federal service. He was happiest spending time outdoors and treasured his many summers and weekends at the family camp he built on Otter Lake. He was an avid photographer at family gatherings and enjoyed gardening and landscaping as well as construction and woodworking. Tom was proud of his Polish heritage, enjoyed listening to Polish music and celebrating holidays with Polish traditions. He especially savored the Polish foods his beloved wife, Nancy, had mastered cooking. He was a member of Historic Old St. John's Church, the Whitestown American Legion and the New York Mills Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving Tommy are his cherished son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Gregory and Joanne Jamrosz, of Whitesboro; sister, Sophie Kern, and Goddaughter, Linda Kuklinski; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Louis, Stephen and Thaddeus, and one sister, Mary Kiersnowski. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 at the Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica.
