C. Griggs Obituary

Griggs, C. Mark
C. Mark Griggs, age 50, of Fairfield, beloved son of the late Charles Cady and Cleora Crego Griggs, passed away on September 27, 2014 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. Mark will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Cady Griggs Kryspin, and her husband, Edmund, of Fairfield, Peter Standish, and his wife, Suzanne, of Milford, Nancy LeFebvre, and her husband, Lowell, of OKLA, Marcia Atsaves, of VA; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins. In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his faithful guide dog, Chance. Raised in Fairfield, Mark successfully completed the town's special needs program, graduating from Andrew Warde High School in 1985. Moving to Naples, FL with his parents for 27 years, he proudly worked at Publix as a grocery bagger. Mark later returned to Fairfield to live with his sister, Cady. During those years, he truly enjoyed sharing daily family activities with Cady, Ed, and their children, Chelsea, John and Sarah. In more recent years, Mark resided in a CLASP group home in the Brooklawn section of Fairfield, and worked at the Stop & Shop on Kings Hwy before retiring with health complications. A devoted member of First Church Congregational, Mark was also a member of Casey's Place. He was an avid sports fan, and was especially fond of the NY Mets and the Miami Dolphins. He loved listening to music and socializing with friends, and he had a special gift for remembering people's names, dates and places . An honorary member of the Fairfield Beach Club, he cherished spending summer days on the water with his family and the many Beach Club friends he made. Even with life's challenges, Mark possessed an outwardly positive personality and gave his love to individuals unconditionally. He was a source of joy and inspiration for his family and those who came to know him and care for him. A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Friday, October 3rd at 3 PM in First Church Congregational, in Fairfield, with a reception to immediately follow in the church's hall. His interment will be private. Contributions in his memory may be made to: Clasp Homes, 246 Post Road, East, Westport, CT 06880. Dear Family:

I am so sad for the loss of mark.

Growing up I was Mark's best friend. Everyday I would stop by his house and walk him to school. Most days Mark was excited to go to school. Some days I would have to go to his room and argue with him to get dressed. With that said, we never missed a day of school.

I cannot count the hours we spent in his tree house or how many sleepovers we enjoyed.

Mark was a loving and a wonderful friend and he will always in my heart.

With love,

Tom Groonell
