Mary Ellen Vokey
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister
CHELMSFORD -- Mary Ellen (Hawkins) Vokey, 68, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Tufts Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She is the beloved wife of David S. Vokey of Chelmsford.
She was born in Arlington on August 31, 1946, a daughter of the late Warren and Rita (Dinan) Hawkins. She attended schools in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1965.
Mary was a loyal employee of CVS in North Billerica for more than 20 years, most recently as a merchandiser for Hallmark cards.
She enjoyed the simple gifts and beauties in life and was happiest when laughing with family and friends, sipping on a hot cup of tea. Mary dedicated her life to her family. She was the type of mother and friend who always offered encouragement, love and honesty. She believed in people and saw the good in everyone. Mary was a true and wonderful soul who will be missed, remembered and celebrated. Her beautiful spirit will shine in every sunrise and twinkle in every lucky penny.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her two daughters, Kelly Vokey and Tracy Vokey and their husbands, Leo Carr and Mark Brophy; her sister and brother, Elizabeth Hawkins, and Robert Hawkins and his wife, Bonnie; her mother-in-law, Bernadette Vokey; and her granddaughters, Hannah and Emma Carr for whom her love was endless and immeasurable.
