BURLINGTON - Lilly Jane Murphy Ward, 68, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Hospice Home. She was born in Chatham County to the late James Edward Murphy and the late Rachel Elizabeth Canady Murphy.
Lilly retired from Alamance Memorial Hospital and attended Ebenezer United Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Randy Pruitt, Shelia Fitzgerald, Kara and Neal Overman; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and sisters, Margaret Deal and Peggy Wolsfelt. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Winfred, Tommy, Bobby and Doug Murphy.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October 20, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Larry Covington. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service and other times at the daughters' home, Patricia Pruitt.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. You may sign the online register book at www.lowefuneralhome.com.

Im very sorry for your loss.i remember jane came around a lot when i was a child ,shes a sweet lady she was my mothers aunt.she was always helping others.my deepest condolences to you all.Holly Murphy my mother wishes she could attend the service....however she isnt quite mobil -Eva Miller/Holly Murphy

I knew Mrs Ward several years ago, when working in health care. Mrs Ward was sweet and had a kind heart. I am sorry to hear of her passing. May you all find comfort, strength and peace in leaning on each other. My deepest condolence.
