Elizabeth Vick Phillips BURLINGTON - Mrs. Elizabeth Vick Phillips, born March 9, 1926 in Tarboro, daughter of William Garland Vick and Thelma Brooks Vick Hatcher, died in Burlington on October 1, 2014. She married Sterling Eugene Phillips, her high school sweetheart, in 1945 and raised three children in Greensboro before moving to the Twin Lakes Community in Burlington in 1992. While raising her family, Mrs. Phillips worked outside the home for John Van Lindley for 30 years until retiring in 1984. At Twin Lakes, Mrs. Phillips served in many volunteer positions, including delivering Meals on Wheels, working the volunteer desk at Alamance Regional Hospital, serving at Loaves and Fishes, and leading in the Twin Lakes Auxiliary. Lib and Sterling were members of Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro, then of First Presbyterian Church in Burlington. They were married 69 years. She is survived by her husband, Sterling Phillips, of Twin Lakes in Burlington, son Sterling Eugene Phillips, Jr. and wife Pat Ferrill, of McLean, VA, son James Vick Phillips and wife Sue Edwards Phillips, of Charlotte, daughter Patricia Phillips Clark and husband Clyde Jordan Clark of Atlanta, GA, an especially close niece, Gaynelle Helen Baynes of Onancock, VA, as well as other nieces and nephews. She was also the proud "Gran" to 10 grandchildren, Page Phillips Mack (husband Robbie), Matthew Cameron Phillips (wife Jenn), Kristin Phillips Bailey (husband Craig), Peter McLean Phillips (wife MC), Mark Edward Phillips (wife Celeste), Elizabeth Ferrill, and Meg Ferrill (wife Jen), Dorsett Clark Davis (husband Preston), Graham Clark Mudd (husband Josh), Suzanne Clark Stearns (husband Robert), 15 great-grandchildren and twins on the way. A memorial service will be held at two o'clock on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the May Foley Chapel at Twin Lakes Community in Burlington with the Dr. Clyde Christmas officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Pepper Tree Caf‚. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial gifts be made to the Memory Care Center at Twin Lakes Community (3801 Wade Coble Drive, Burlington, NC 27215).
