GIBSONVILLE - Mr. Robert James Laws Jr., 69, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Born in Richlands, Va., he was the son of the late Robert James Laws Sr. and the late Ella Mae White Laws and was married for over 47 years to Mrs. Evelyn Sue Shores Laws, who survives.
James retired from Robertson and Son Masonry and was a member of Twin Oakes Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Laws is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Beverly Reneé Williams and husband Larry of Burlington and Jennifer Marie Laws of the home; two sons, Father Robert James Laws III of Crisville, Md. and Jeffrey Scott Laws of Aberdeen; three grandchildren, Zachary, Anna-Noel and Andrew; and two sisters, Frances Couch of Burlington and Mildred Davis of Richlands, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Isaac.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Olin Tatum. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was a friend of Renee and Jennifer in high school, and knew Mr. Laws to be a kind person and excellent father. Condolences to his family.
