Mrs. Catherine L. Brown of Petersburg, Va., passed into eternal rest on Friday, Oct. 17, 2013 at Southside Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1933 to the late Mr. Benjamin Lanier and Mrs. Lucy Coleman Lanier. She was the youngest of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her five brothers and four sisters. Catherine attended Dinwiddie County Public Schools. She went on to be employed at Southside Regional Medical Center until her retirement. Mrs. Catherine Brown was a member of Gillfield Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brown is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Ruth M. Jefferson, Mrs. Shirley Webb (Horace) both of Petersburg, Va., and Mrs. Majorie Ferguson of Baltimore, Md., ss well as two nephews, Mr. Ronald Lanier (Jessica) of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mr. Linwood Lanier (Ethel) of Sicklerville, N.J. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Mrs. Vivian Lanier of Philadelphia, Pa. A host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to name and one special friend, Mr. George Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 from the Chapel of Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Grady Powell, officiating. Funeral services under the direction of the Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg, 804-863-4411.
