BROWNS SUMMIT - The Rev. Robert Julian Spence Jr., 75, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Alamance Regional Hospital.
A native of Guilford County, he was born Sept. 30, 1939 to the late Robert Julian and Margaret Ingle Spence and was the husband of 54 years to Linda Spence of the home.
Robert was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He attended Holmes Bible College and became a licensed minister in 1973 at the age of 34. He also served as a minister of Cornerstone Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Cindi Letchworth and husband Jimmie of Zebulon; son, Robert Julian Spence III and wife Lori of Mint Hill; grandchildren, Christian Spence, Julia Spence, Nathan Spence, Micah Letchworth, Elizabeth Letchworth and Joey Spence; sisters, Nancy Glore of Kernersville, Sarah Maucher and husband Dieter of Chesterfield, Va.; and brother, David Spence and wife Paulette of Chesterfield, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Gary Yeatts, Bishop Doyle Marley and the Rev. James Laws with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holmes Bible College, 4901 Old Buncombe Road, Greenville, SC 29617.
