Mrs. Patricia McLean Brown, 82, of Rochester, passed away at 12:02 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at Woodlawn Hospital.
On May 4, 1932, Patricia Ann was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Fredrick Hill and Elvira Crowl McLean. Growing up she shared her childhood with two sisters and a brother. Following high school she enlisted with the United States Air Force and was proud to serve our country during the Korean War.
Ray E. Brown and Patricia Ann McLean Brown were married on Dec. 23, 1953 in Erding, Germany by the United States Air Force Chaplain. Staying with tradition in Germany they were married the second time in Munich by the Bürgermeister. Together they shared over 60 years of life's adventures. From their union came two daughters Cyndi and Christy and two sons Mark and Ray. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In 2001, the Brown family moved from Ocala, Fla. settling in Rochester. Patricia attended the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rochester and was a member of the Manitou VFW Post # 1463, the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post # 36, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Taking great pride with a solid work ethic, Patricia worked in medical records for a period of time then later was a member of the Herald-Journal production team in Monticello. She was most proud of being a wonderful mother and a great wife.
To relax Patricia crocheted gifts of warmth for her family and many friends. Blankets, afghans, and mittens were her specialty. Over the years she created lap quilts for our Veterans at the V.A. retirement home. She
especially enjoyed crafts and working with her hands.
Stephen King was Patricia's favorite author. She owned a vast collection of his books. The weekends brought on garage and yard sales. Patricia and Ray valued the adventure of finding special treasures.
Left to cherish Patricia's memory are her husband Ray; two daughters, Cyndi Grace and husband Ron of Reynolds, Christy Dunne and husband Mike of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Mark A. Brown, of Ocala, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Renae, Michael, Stephanie, Ashley, Michelle, David, and Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren; and her cherished canine companion, Leibchen, a black and white Shih-tzu.
Preceding Patricia in death are her parents; son, Ray Patrick Brown in 2006; two sisters and a brother.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 – 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and the Elwood American Legion Post # 53 Military Rites Team at the Marion National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday.
