Emmett John Moran, Jr. passed away on October 22, 2014 at home. Beloved husband of Donna Knight Moran, brother-in-law of Amy K. Althans (Tom) and uncle of Jonathan S. Althans (Amy). He was the son of the late Emmett J. Moran and Lucille LaGroue; brother of Vicki M. Buras. Emmett graduated from Tulane University with a B.A. in Political Science. After his first job with Perlis, Inc. which he held during and after college, he was a sales representative for Taylor-Seidenbach for 47 years. He was well known in the HVAC trade across Southeast Louisiana having developed a strong rapport with his customer base from the bayou country to the north shore. As a Boy Scout, he achieved Eagle Scout with three palms, Order of the Arrow, and most important to him, the God and Country Award. As a member of the Louisiana National Guard he rose from Private to First Lieutenant. Emmett was a tutor in Operation Mainstream, a program that became the largest adult literacy program in the state. Emmett was a very active member of Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist in Lakeview for more than 40 years. He served in many capacities including Board Chairman, Sunday School Superintendent, First Reader and Building Committee Chairman. Besides his wife and beloved Scottish Terrier Fiona, Emmett enjoyed his church, traveling, attending the symphony, and gardening. He took pride in his gardens both in Lakeview and in Mandeville where the couple moved post-Katrina. The family welcomes friends to attend a "Celebration of Life" service at Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, 134 Polk St.; New Orleans LA 70124 on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. Words cannot express the emptiness I feel with the passing of such a special friend and business associate. Emmett's kind and gentle manner were his flagship of his many, many friendships he acquired over the years. My whole family was touched by Emmett and Donna. I cannot express enough how I miss him. Our prayers will be extended to Emmett and his entire family.

Our deepest sympathy to you, the family, and friends of Emmett. He was such a very wonderful, kind, and generous man who will be missed. We thought of him often and was hoping he was enjoying retirement. He was our salesman at TS and visited us every other Thursday for years on the Bayou Run. We always enjoyed hearing his stories of his adventures with you. May God give you strength during this difficult time. From all at Trent's Air Conditioning & Heating
