James Allen Geesey, Sr., age 93, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Friday night, October 31, 2014. Jim Geesey was a loving friend to many and a caring supporter of people in need. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Helen Rittenour Geesey. Mr. Geesey is also survived by his sons, Allen Geesey of Birmingham, AL; Mike Geesey and his wife Helen of Marietta, GA; Rick Geesey and his wife Jan of Montgomery, AL; and his daughter Gayle Auman and her husband Robert of Montgomery, AL; four grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Other family members include his brother-in-law, Jim Rittenour, Sr. and his wife Helen of Montgomery, AL along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was born in Lakewood, Ohio in 1921 and lived in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan in 1944. He is a Veteran of World War II where he served in the Army. He was injured during the war and received two purple hearts.
Before moving into Montgomery, Jim and his family were longtime residents of Pike Road, AL. He worked for the State Of Alabama's Public Examiners Office and then joined the Economic Development Administration under the Department of Commerce for 25 years until retirement.
Jim was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Montgomery, AL. He sang in the choir for 50 years and participated in the "pulpit players"; he served as the Chairman of the Administrative Board, the Finance Committee, and the Missions Work Area. He was a longtime member of the Tower Sunday School Class.
He served on the Board of Directors for the Nellie Burge Community Center and was their Treasurer for several years. Jim was a 33rd degree Mason.
Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church on November 7th, at 10:00 with the Memorial Service at 11:00. Interment will be at the Columbarium immediately after the service.
The family requests that memorials gifts be designated to First United Methodist Church, Mary Ellen's Hearth or Montgomery Area Council on Aging.

Mr. Geesey was one of my all-time favorite people when I was growing up in Pike Road. He was so kind and always had a great smile. My sincere sympathies to Helen, Allen, Rick, Mike, and Gayle. I know you will miss him.

My sympathy to Helen and her family in the passing of Jim.
They were class people who welcomed me many years ago into the First United Methodist choir. Their warmth was genuine. Jim & I sang bass in a wonderful choir. May God embrace you with His love and peace during your time of grief.
