ONEIDA >> Stuart J. Lindsay, 66, of 226 Farrier Ave., Oneida, and formerly of Canastota, died on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 at University Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1948, in Syracuse, a son of Mervyn "Joe" and Huldah Bowen Lindsay.
Stuart spent his early years in Cicero, graduating from CNS High School in 1965. He lived in Canastota most of his life, recently moving to Oneida.
Together with his father, he owned and operated Lindsay's Garage in Cicero, Canastota, and Durhamville, for many years, retiring in 2007.
Stuart served in the US Army Reserves from 1967-1974.
He enjoyed playing pool, car races, drinking coffee, especially at Flo's Diner, and his trips to the Casino and playing the lottery.
Surviving are: two daughters, Krystal Linder of Canastota, and April Lindsay; four grandchildren, Chuckie, Chyann, Christopher, and Brianna; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. Stuart was predeceased by a brother, Richard Lindsay, Sr.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. Pastor Tony Paredes, of South Bay Full Gospel Chapel, will officiate. Burial will be in Stockbridge Cemetery, Munnsville. Calling hours will be held on Friday, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, 201 James St., Canastota.
