William H. 'Bill' Smith of Pottstown William H. "Bill" Smith, 89, of Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove Twp., husband of Anna W. (West) Smith, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014 at Reading Hospital. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late George W. and Sara (Crosley) Smith. Bill supported his family as a professional truck driver, retiring from Ryerson Steel Inc. in 1988. He proudly served his country aboard the Aircraft Carrier Shangri-La as a Naval Machinist First Class during WWII and more recently continued in service to the community as a member of the Lions Club. He was a long standing member of Goshen Baptist Church of West Chester. Surviving with his wife of 62 years are their children Dwight Smith, husband of Cindy, of West Chester, Paula Taylor, wife of Elwood, of Pottstown and Kevin Smith of Pottstown; their "adopted" daughter Nanette Morrone, wife of Joseph, of West Chester; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers George and Harry Smith and sisters Mary Baldwin and Margaret Titter. A memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. at Trinity EC Church, 250 Sweinhart Road, Boyertown, PA 19512. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William's name to Trinity EC Church at the above address.
