The Rev. L.V. Brown, Savannah, Tennessee, made his final journey into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at the age of 89. He was born on Oct. 13, 1925, to Tom and Rhonda Franks Brown, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Brown was a wood worker and farmer by trade, but his true calling for 67 years was to spread the word of the gospel to the lost world through brush harbors, outdoor tents and country churches. He also pastored Wards Community Church for 23 years.
He was preceded by an infant son, Raburn Dean; grandson, Delbert Alan Brown; brothers, Floyd, Audie, Hardin, Randal and James; sisters, Mollie and Ruby Stricklin.
He is survived by his wife and help mate of 68 years, Mackie Murphy Brown; daughter, Rachel Brown Poole (Mickey); sons, Delbert (Wilton), Tommy (Linda), Joel (Connie), L.V. (Brownie) Brown Jr. (Alisha); grandchildren, Bryan Poole (Kim), Tammy Poole Clemmons (Kevin), Jason Brown (Marcy), Amy Brown Frye (Troy), Lana Brown Woods (Tim), Megan Brown, Mallorie Brown, Hunter Brown and Brady Brown; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Coty, Emiley, Lindsey, Brooke, Brandon, Haley, Alex, Brinlee, Harper and Jonah; sisters, Ruie Harvale, Ruthie Michael; and sister-in-law, Doris Beckham.
Services for Mr. Brown will be Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Marvin Morrow officiating. Private entombment for the family will be at Greenview in Florence. Visitation will be from noon until service time.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Poole, Nathan Martin, Cody Martin, Jason Brown, Hunter Brown, Brandon Woods, Mark Beckham and Wayne Landers.
