PEKIN - Marian Ellen Mattheessen, 86, of Pekin passed away at 1:10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at her residence.
Born on April 28, 1928, in Peoria to George H. and Ella (Brauer) Ehrlicher, she married William Lindland Mattheessen on July 2, 1950, in Pekin. He died on Aug. 7, 2007, in Pekin. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three children, William George Mattheessen of Slidell, La., and Robert (and Paula) Mattheessen and Karen Mattheessen (and Tim Bueter), both of Pekin; and three grandchildren, Tabitha Mattheessen of Peoria, John (and Maggie) Mattheessen of Chicago and Clara Mattheessen of Charleston.
A graduate of Monticello College in 1948, Marian graduated in 1950 from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Since 2007, Marian had served as the vice president and a director of the Herget Financial Corp. in Pekin and had served on the Herget Bank National Association board of directors from 1978 to 2007.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin and the Concordia Society of her church. She also was a member of the William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 Ladies Auxiliary, American Association of University Women and the Pekin Women's Club. She was a former board member of the Kickapoo Council of Girl Scouts.
Marian was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 700 S. 4th St., Pekin, IL 61554; or to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554.

Karen, Tim I am so sorry to learn of mother's passing. I pray that she was in no pain. God's will has been done and now mom can rest free of pain and suffering in god's hands. Mother is in a better place. I understand the pain that you are going through with the passing of your beloved mother.
