Patricia Wilkes Obituary

Patricia M. "Patty" Wilkes

FRANKLINTON

Patricia (Patty) M. Wilkes passed away peacefully in her home after a long illness on November 27th in Franklinton, NC at the age of 53.

Patty is survived by her beloved husband, Ward Wilkes; Father, Phillip Moore (step-mother, Betty); Sister Dianne Reed (husband George and family); Half-brother, Terry Lee Young; Uncle Joe Wells (wife Judy). She is preceded in death by her Mother, Jimmie Sue Wells; Brother, Joseph Moore.

Patty was born on August 7, 1961 in Fairbanks, AK. She began with a career as a beautician but later made a career change with long term employment at Glaxo Smith Kline in RTP, NC. She was an outstanding employee who received many awards for her accomplishments.

She was altruistic and a dedicated member of the North Raleigh Church of Christ. Patty was instrumental with starting an AA group meeting located at her church. This exemplified her love, deep compassion and service to others. Some of her cherished prayers were Saint Francis of Assisi and the AA Promises.

Patty's interests to name a few were her love for nature and passion for gardening. She adored her dog Alli and cat Herminie. She enjoyed riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle with her friends.

A special heartfelt appreciation goes to Victoria Martin Johnson and Kelly Brown for their dedication and nursing care during the final stages of her illness. Also the never-ending love and support from family and friends throughout her journey.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at North Raleigh Church of Christ located at 8701 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. Pastor Ken Chaffin will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Patty's life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Wake Forest Alano Club at PO Box, 413, Wake Forest, NC 27588 and also Animal Friends Shelter, PO Box 615, Bellville, TX 77418. Both are non-profit organizations and 100% of the proceeds go directly to the charity.

Ward, Patty will be missed by so many of us but as for me, I am looking forward to that GREAT reunion day! It seems the older I get the more I long for my Permanent Home. Life is so short and the older I get the quicker it passes. I pray Jesus will give you the strength needed to move forward with Patty in your heart while living what life you have left in joy because I know Patty wants that for you! God Bless you Ward! With Love, Ellen

Patty had made me feel so welcome in AA when I had just moved up here almost 3 years ago from southeast Florida,
and did not know anyone in the rooms. She was a beautiful person, inside and out...the "real deal", and will be missed by many. Thank you Patty, hopefully, the pain is over and you are in a wonderful place with gardens and animals that now get to feel your love and spirit. I know you are in our heavenly father's arms. God bless you! Cathie

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
I love you more than words could ever describe - and between you and me, I know in my heart you always knew that. I can only hope that others are as lucky to have a sister like you in their lives. Till I meet you on the other side Pat - just remember - "clean, clean, clean". 'Just keep cleaning." :)

Patty's example of true faith was a promise fulfilled in this journey we walk. They say don't give up before the miracle happens, and I'm glad I stuck around to watch how it is done. I am forever grateful that God placed her in my path. Love you dearly my friend!

God looked around His garden and found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful; He always takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. See you again Patty, when we are all together someday in the Presence of all His Glory.

My dearest Patty,

It is with a heavy heart I learned of your illness and passing.

We were neighbors in Edgeford Park for many years. As neighbors, we always waved to each other as you drove by my house. I think fondly of that time. I will never forget you, your smile and our friendship.

I was so happy for you when I learned you got married and moved to a new home where you could embark on your new life with Ward.

I know you are now well and at peace. My heart, thoughts are prayers are with you and your family forever.
