Brenda Gavach
Brenda A. Gavach, 76, of Columbia, Ill., born Feb. 28, 1938, in Muskegon, Mich., passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always cherished the times that were spent together. She had been the office manager at Steffenauer & Associates CPA's, Inc., Columbia, Ill., for 20 years. Brenda had a deep faith, was a past church secretary, Sunday School teacher and youth leader, and is a member of Hope Christian Church, Columbia, Ill. She was a member of the Avon President's Club for many years. Her favorite past-times were reading, crocheting, playing Scrabble and crossword puzzles. She and her husband, Carl, were avid Wheel of Fortune watchers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Eva, nee Stitt, Brandon; a daughter, Laurie Whitehouse; and a sister, Patricia Hern.
Surviving are her husband Carl W. Gavach, whom she married Oct. 1, 1955, in Muskegon, Mich.; her children, Debra (Robert) Hillyer of Cedaredge, Colo., Kellie Graves of Columbia, Ill., and Toni (Bret) Steffenauer of Columbia, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Donald Whitehouse and Wayne Graves, both of Waterloo, Ill.; sisters and brother, Evelyn Wheeler of Cadillac, Mich., Robert (Margie) Smith of Muskegon, Mich., and Claudia (Jack) Sturtevant of Twin Lakes, Mich.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Hope Christian Church, Columbia, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at the church, with Rev. Robert Hillyer and Pastor Darrell Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in the Kolmer Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo, Ill.
