Rachel S.
Gianfrancesco
64, of Massillon and formerly of Dover went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 at her home. Born Dec. 21, 1949 in Winfield she was a daughter of the late Norman and Delphia Akers Wendling. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, David, Thomas, Fred and Johnny Wendling. She had worked at Speedway in New Philadelphia, Sparta Manufacturing, the Timken Co and was a waitress at several local restaurants throughout the years. She attended the First Assembly of God at New Philadelphia and was a part of the Groovy Grannies. Rachel was an avid shopper and enjoyed collecting dolls and jewelry. She loved traveling and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Gwen Wendling.
Rachel is survived by her daughter, Carrie Anne (Kevin) Gianfrancesco Maletich of Massillon; son, David (Jennifer) Douglass of Georgia; grandchildren, Liz Gianfrancesco and companion Curtis "Bert" Geohring, Jason Feister, Dara (Kellen) Heaston, Nate (Courtney) Gianfrancesco, Jessica Wallace, Aubrey and Evan Douglass; great- grandchildren, Jacob Kohler, Jordan and Lydia Heaston, Kali, Nevaeh and Aayia Gianfrancesco.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Rachel may do so by visiting the online obituaries and flowers link on the funeral homes website. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
