1977 ~ 2014
Salt Lake City, Utah-Our dear and most loved son, Brett Jason Miller, passed from this world unexpectedly on December 8, 2014 in Salt Lake City at the age of 37. He was born March 8, 1977 in Salt Lake City to Michael Cannon and Suzanne (Strong) Miller. Brett was an active, loving and gregarious young man. He was an avid cyclist and enthusiastic rock climber. His passion for cars was second-to-none and he found immense joy and solace in building, enhancing and racing many types of high performance vehicles. He had a dry, witty sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. While serving a mission for the LDS Church in Jacksonville, FL, he often found ways to incorporate humor into his daily routine, whilst doing the Lord's work, including sending his sister an envelope full of dead crickets in lieu of a letter. Brett's ability to connect and engage with people made him extremely successful in the sales positions he held in top local and global organizations. Brett graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, UT and earned his B.S. in Sociology from Utah State University. Brett leaves behind his parents, his sisters, Michelle Genna and Melissa "Annie" Miller and his brother, Ryan Miller. He also leaves behind his son, Nolan Gaskill, and his grandmothers, Barbara Cannon Miller and Venice Stayner Strong. His many friends, cousins, aunts and uncles also mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Friday from 6:00-8:00 at the mortuary and from 9:45-10:45 am Saturday. Burial will be in Elysian Gardens. The family suggests donations to the U of U Harold G. (Hack) Miller and Gus Uffens Scholarship Fund for medical research.

Dear Suzanne, Mike and family,
We are deeply saddened by the news of Brett's passing. It doesn't seem natural to have a child go home to our Heavenly Father before us.
May you find comfort in the Savior's plan knowing that you will be with Brett again. We love your family and wish we could be there to express our condolences in person and offer each of you a heartfelt 'hug.'
Please tell Michelle, Ryan and Melissa that we think of them often and hope for a blessing of comfort for them also.
God be with you all.

Mike and Suzanne, I'm at a complete loss for words. It was only last week that i was watching some old videos of Brett and I having fun (being stupid) down at Lake Powell. I will always remember him as the best of friends. So sorry for you loss.

I remember Brett from our mission in Jacksonville. I never served with him but was around him a number of times in the same districts and zones. So sorry for your loss what a tough thing and unexpected.

Dearest Bretters, it's been ages since we have seen each other, but you always had a place in my best memories - driving around in your impala, playing pin pong, hiking, rock climbing, arguing life styles and morals, and other various mischief. I am so saddened to learn of your passing, and only hope that you are at peace. Sending love and light to your loved ones.

Dear Mike and Suzzane; Words cannot express the sorrow I feel at this time for you both. I have faith that Brett is at peace at this time but this leaves an un-fillable hole in our lives. May the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ provide you comfort at this time.
