Ernest Lesson Obituary

Lesson, Ernest V. SCHAGHTICOKE Ernest V. "Ernie" Lesson passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at his Troy home with his loving family at his side. He was 83 and a lifelong resident of Schaghticoke until recently moving to Troy. Born in Schaghticoke on September 10, 1931, he was son of the late Frank and Marion (Grignon) Lesson. He is the husband of Carole Ann (Reilly) Lesson, whom he married in 1955. He attended the Schaghticoke School and worked as a machine operator, retiring in 1990 from Norton Company of Watervliet. Ernie was a charter member of the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad and enjoyed spending the winters with his wife Carole in Naples, Fla. A member of the Mechanicville and Watervliet Elks clubs, he also enjoyed Tuesday night poker with his buddies. In addition to his wife Carole, he is survived by his children, E. Scott (Karen) Lesson of Melrose, Kathleen (Thomas) McNulty of Latham, Linda (Peter) Ryan of Schaghticoke, and Dale Lesson (Virginia Vredenburg) of Valley Falls. "Pop" is also survived by his grandchildren, Brian Lesson, Jeffrey Lesson, Kayla Ryan, Serenna Ryan, Christian McNulty and Lia McNulty, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Thomas Lesson and Mary Stockwicz Rifenburgh. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Home, 173 Main St., Schaghticoke. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. John's Catholic Church), 17 South Main St., Schaghticoke. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in the spring. Kindly consider memorials to the Hoosic Valley Rescue Squad in memory of Ernie Lesson. Online remembrances may be made at chasesmithfamily.com.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Scott it was your dad that got me into the rescue squad. He asked to have you start as a junior member. After the discussion and approval vote my mom piped up that I wanted to be a member too. I don't think she would have thought about it on her own.
