D. Meckley Obituary

KANE - D. Neal Meckley, 87, formerly of 121 Oak St., Kane, died Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 10, 2014) at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Dec. 22, 1926 in Lamont, he was the son of Orvis S. and Mabel A. Asp Meckley. On Aug. 26, 1950, in Kane, he married Joann Jerman, who died Aug. 28th of this year.
Mr. Meckley served in the U.S. Army during World War II, discharged at the rank of sergeant.
He owned and operated Meckley's Feed Store in Kane, then was a supervisor at Houston Electronics in Kane until his retirement in 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn (Tony) Avenali of Kane; a son, Richard Meckley of Kane; a granddaughter, Jennifer Meckley; a brother, Robert Meckley in Florida and Canada, plus two sisters, June Lynds of Warren and Beatrice Anderson of Anderson, Ind.
Preceding him in death, besides his wife and parents, is a brother, Orvis Meckley Jr.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m., at which time a service will be held there with the Rev. David Pflieger, chaplain of the Lutheran Home at Kane, officiating. Interment will follow in Gibbs Hill Cemetery, Ludlow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home at Kane, 100 High Point Drive, Kane, PA  16735.
