Howard D. Sanders, 79, died at 9:14 AM on Sunday in Bartlesville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday in the Greenwood Cemetery at Sedan, Kansas under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Howard Dixie Sanders was born on November 3, 1935 at Winfield, Kansas the son of Jay D. and Iva Jane (Jorden) Sanders. He was raised in the Winfield and Sedan areas and graduated from Sedan High School in 1954. He married Sara Beth Newkirk in 1957 and later married Leida Avila in 1996. He had worked in the telecommunications department for the Phillips Petroleum Company for 35 years and retired in 1992. He had been a very active member of the Bartlesville Jaycee's and was a member of the United Way, he was active with the Red Cross blood drives. He was a member of the Spirit Church.
Howard is survived by his wife Leida of the home, one son Howard Dwight Sanders of Silt, Colorado, his son David A. Sanders of Bartlesville, OK passed away on August 4, 2005, two daughters, Cynthia Sanders of Dewey and Marilyn Jane Sanders of Bartlesville, five grandchildren and six great grand children.
