David A. Sundstedt
Born: April 28, 1926
Died: Dec. 3, 2014
On December 3, 2014, after a full and honorable life, David Arthur Sundstedt, age 88, forever left his footprint on this earth.
Born to the late Edward and Helen (Diebold) Sundstedt on April28, 1926, Dave graduated from Harlem High School in 1944. After participating in the Navy's V12 program at University of Dubuque, during active service, he graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, in 1948. He married Joan Rapp (now Robare) in 1949, with whom he had three surviving sons, Craig (Nancy) Sundstedt of Algonquin, David (Kathy) Sundstedt of Janesville, Iowa and Bernard (Cindy) Sundstedt of Roscoe, IL.
Dave enjoyed a rewarding career in advertising and marketing, most notably with the E.R. Hollingsworth agency of Rockford, and Amerock, Inc., in its halcyon days. He concluded his career as principal partner in a private advertising and print sales agency. Active in his community, he was a benevolent and creative scoutmaster for Troop 17 in Loves Park, and a respected board member of Kinnikinnick School District 131.
A proud uncle of thirteen, grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of five, Dave was an outdoor enthusiast, who exercised an exceptional singing voice in several choirs, and had eyes that actually twinkled when he smiled. Several years after his marriage to Betty Perry Dietz in 1973, the couple retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas, where they enjoyed a quiet life together, until Betty's death, on April 4, 2010.
In addition to his sons, Dave is survived by siblings, Jeanne Sundstedt Elliott, and John Sundstedt; along with sister-in-law, Shirley Pillsbury Sundstedt; cousins, Ernest and James Diebold; stepson, Douglas Charles Dietz; and step-daughter-in-law, Betsy Dietz.
Predeceased by wife, Betty; brother, James Sundstedt; sister-in-law, Phyllis Carroll Sundstedt; brother-in-law, Ralph Elliott; and nephew, Thomas Sundstedt.

Even though we have not had much contact over the last 35 years David was a great uncle, and good brother to his Sister Jean Elliott [My Mother] He also lived in Arkansas for many years, moving back to Illinois to be closer to his family just recently. To all his children, and grand children, I send my deepest sympathy for their loss, and wish them a happy Holiday season. Todd Elliott Family
