Jewel Crain Strange Bigger ROCK HILL - Family and friends are celebrating the life and mourning the loss this week of Jewel Crain Strange Bigger, 78, who died Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Westminster Rehabilitation Center in Rock Hill. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. The interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Monday, December 15, 2014, at Barron Funeral Home. Born January 4, 1936, in Greenville, Mrs. Bigger was a daughter of the late Croel Mooney Crain and Elsie Collins Crain. She was a graduate of Taylors High School and retired with 32 years of dedicated service for the South Carolina Highway Patrol District 4 office in Chester. She loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family for whom she delighted in cooking and entertaining. She was an excellent cook, as those that knew her and had eaten at her table would agree. She is survived by her husband Walter Eugene Bigger and two daughters, Susan Strange Anderson and her husband, Leonard C., of Chester, and Angela Elizabeth Strange, of Rock Hill; her special "adopted" son, Clark Fennell; three grandchildren, Sarkis Zoubian, Clyde Thomas Zoubian, both of Rock Hill, and Leonard G. Anderson, of San Antonio, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Anderson and Carlie Anderson, of Collinsville, Illinois; and a sister, Elizabeth Crain Stephens and her husband, Gene, of Taylors. She was preceded in death by her son Clyde Nesbitt "Skip" Strange, Jr. and a granddaughter, Elyse Anderson. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church "Gift" Fund, PO Box 518, Chester, SC 29706. I am sad that Jewel has been taken from her family and friends, although, you know she is not suffering now. Just know that my thoughts and prayers are for your family. I didn't know of her passing until today.
