Melva and Carrie, Mike was a very special person. He had the ability to never meet a stranger. If you didn't know Mike, once you met him you were glad you did. He had a kind heart. Please know that your families are in our families prayers. May God Bless and keep your families in His loving care. We love y'all.

I'm so very proud to not only call this man family, but to be able to be called his only Godchild. He was my dad's bff, my protector, an affectionate husband, proud father and grandfather. His passing was too soon, but his pain is over and is living in peace with God. You are our big angel, protecting us in heaven now. I will always have you in my heart. Love you forever.

My condolences to the Suarez family. Mike was a great person. I had the privilege of being trained by Mike when I joined the railroad about four years ago. Mike had a way of explaining things and making them seem easy. I wish I had known Mike outside of the railroad but am honored to have know him on the railroad. The North Bowl shanny has never been the same after he retired. Mike, thanks for having patience with me and may you rest in peace and to his family, may God be with you during this difficult time.

Mike is a truly genuine kind spirit. My parents went to highschool with him & he & Melva are my aunt Diana's lifelong best friends. They were at my wedding, we rented their rental home & I was able to get to know the Suarez family very well. Mike always had a smile & nice words for all. It was evident Mike loved his wife & daughter & grandson above all else. It was an honor to know him & call him a friend.

We were looking forward to having much more fun with "Uncle Mike" as he introduced himself to us at Sarah and Alberts wedding. He also invited us to be a part of his "familia" in which we were very honored. It is obvious to see how much he was loved by everyone. Prayers and blessings to all his familia. My condolences and prayers go out to Mikes wife Melva and their kids-----I never knew Mike outside of the railroad, that is socially, since the demands of our jobs and families may have prevented it but one thing I can express he had a honest work ethic and was a somewhat temperate co-worker who made a tough job interesting and exciting. Never a dull moment when Mike was on my job. Railroad workers are a special breed of men and Mike was exceptionally in every way---he could read a “pickle list” from the yardmaster and have the work done in half the time than others so the crew could have more spot time!
When Sonny West called and told me the sad news I couldn't believe it since I just saw Mike and meet Melva for the first time about two weeks ago-----he was smiling and cheerful and his usual optimistic self---Mike had a certain charisma that drew coworkers toward him like a moth gravitating to the light. I was truly heart broken to hear of his passing after enduring all those years on the railroad like all of those fellow railroad workers who have passed before he will be missed. There is a certain “Band of Brothers” comradeship among fellow SPRR workers like those who served in combat together. Mike was one of those brothers who will missed. Wish there was more to express but I am at a lost for words. God Bless you Melva and your family in your time of grief.
