Joseph F. Plummer
AGE: 93 • Laurel, DE
Joseph Franklin Plummer, 93 yrs., of Laurel, DE went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2014 at Seaford Center, Seaford, DE. Born in Federalsburg, Maryland, he is the son of the late Charles Raymond Plummer and Estella Bramble Plummer. Joe proudly served his country in the National Guard. He retired from the E. I. DuPont Co. in 1976 as an electrician. He was a dedicated, hard-working member of the Laurel Saddle Friends for over 40 years alongside his wife, Pansy. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #19, a Master Mason of Hope Lodge #4, both of Laurel, DE, Seaford Elks and the Delmarva Driving Club. He dearly loved horses and trail riding and joined the Bicentennial Wagon Train Pilgrimage in Virginia as a scout riding his horse "Navajo" arriving in Valley Forge, PA on July 4, 1976.
He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Pansy, two daughters, Lola Ann Plummer and Linda Justice (Nelson) and a son, Jay (Diane), all of Laurel. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Lee DeLuca and a brother, Jack Plummer, both of Seaford, five grandchildren, John Justice (Debi), Angela DenHerder (Aaron), Josh Plummer (Paula), Tiffany Ranger and Holly Fox (Matt). Great grandchildren are Luke and Logan Justice, Sammy and Eli DenHerder, Madison, Montana and Macie Fox.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Catherine Adams and her husband Roy, sister-in-law Jane Plummer and brother-in-law, Al DeLuca and great grandchild, Jacob DenHerder.
Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, DE at 4:00 pm, where a viewing will also be held from 3-4:00 pm. Rev. Joe Burris will officiate. Interment will be held privately. Contributions can be made to Laurel Saddle Friends, P. O. Box 93, Laurel, DE 19956 or American Legion Post 19, P. O. Box 329, Laurel, DE 19956.
