Joseph A Poscal, 89, of Merrill, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at Cartwright Care Center surrounded by his family.
Joseph was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Gordonville, at the family farm to the late Alfred and Margie (Heindel) Poscal. This started his life-long love of farming. He married Wanda Crittenden in Midland at St. Bridgid's rectory, now Bradley House, on Feb. 18, 1950. He moved to his farm in Mt. Haley Township where he resided for 64 years. Joe was a member of St. Patrick's Church of Ryan and served as usher for several years. He enjoyed hunting with his son, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and friends. He watched his grandchildren play in many sporting events. He was an avid Tigers and Pistons fan, win or lose. Joe was employed at Midland Public Schools, retiring after 32 years of service, as a custodian. He retired from farming in 1990 but still loved to see the spring planting and fall harvest. Joseph is survived by his wife, Wanda; children, Judy (Richard) Bluemer, Roger (Dawn) Poscal, Bonnie (Dan) Mueller; grandchildren, Kelly (Pat) Netzley, Courtney (Mike) Schiller, Ashley (Derek) Painter, Mitchell (Kelsey Neuenfeldt) Poscal, Jeff (Cassie) Mueller and Brandon (Ashley Edwards) Mueller; great-grandchildren, Reilie, Easton, Jaxen, Brielle, and an expected great-grandchild in March; his sisters, Hazel Berlin and Arlene Varner; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Barb) Crittenden and Jack (Alice) Crittenden; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Butler; brothers-in-law, Dorson Butler, Walter Berlin, Lawrence Varner; and sister-in-law, Hazel Crittenden. The family would like to thank Dr. Walter Gruber and the staff of Cartwright for the wonderful care they provided to Joe. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at W.L. Case & Company, 125 E. Saginaw St., Merrill. Fr. T.J. Fleming will officiate, with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Ryan. Friends may visit with the family on Monday at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Breckenridge Merrill Wheeler (B.M.W.) Food Pantry, Cartwright, or to a charity of the donor's choice. www.casefuneralhome.comTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Dear Wanda and Family, This is Charles and Margaret Campbell. We knew you through your catering service to the School Retirees group. Good Meals!!
But Joe and I were farm lovers who had a short update most everyday on all the latest on the farms: spring planting, summer showers, fall harvest and then all winter looking forward to spring again. I liked Joe, he was a buddy with dirt on his shoes. I had memories to keep me going. We loved agriculture.
All the very best to you. We lost Joe and Eulaine Pretzer to early it seems to me.
