Mary Lee

April 20, 1926 - January 19, 2015

Mary Lee Lee passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 while residing at INOVA Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mary Lee was 88 years. The daughter of the late Carroll and Alma (Fowler) Milbourne, Mary was born on April 20, 1926 in Middleburg, Virginia. On September 22, 1946 she married her husband, Kenneth I. Lee, who predeceased her.

After graduating from Lincoln High School in Lincoln Virginia, Mary moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked at Children’s Hospital. After some years, she moved back to Loudoun County where she was employed with the US Postal Service for 30 years as a mail carrier; delivering the mail to over 500 families on her daily route in Leesburg, Waterford and Paeonion Springs.

With her husband Kenneth being instrumental in the building of the Leesburg VFW and becoming a member, Mary Lee also became involved. She was one of the founding members of the Lady’s Auxiliary of VFW Post #1177 in Leesburg, Virginia. A talented athlete, she played on the Leesburg Basketball team for many years and was a member of the Duckpin Bowling League in Leesburg. An owner of race horses (up to as many as 13 at a time) she and husband Kenneth could often be found at the race track in Charles Town, West Virginia, where they anxiously watched their horses run. Along with her family, Mary Lee enjoyed spending weekends camping and fishing along the Shenandoah River in West Virginia. When cold weather arrived, Mary Lee would flee to Clearwater, Florida; arriving home when she was sure of warmer weather.

Mary Lee had a strong love for God. She instilled this upon her family; encouraging them to have faith at all times and making sure they were in church on Sundays. Mary Lee was a strong member of the Christ Church Lucketts in Lucketts, Virginia.

While this wonderful lady will be missed in so many ways, her memories will continue to be cherished by the ones she leaves behind.

Surviving her are her son Kenny Lee and wife Susan; grandson Jeremy Lee; great grandchildren Brayden and Madison Lee; and her brother Dalton Milbourne and wife Jean. Along with her husband, Kenneth, and parents, Carroll and Alma Milbourne, she was predeceased by her brother, Earl Milbourne and sister, Nellie Milbourne Heflin.

Family will receive friends on Friday, January 23, 2015 between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at Christ Church Lucketts, 14861 New Valley Church Road, Leesburg, Virginia 20176 where a service will immediately follow starting at 11:00 am.
