I knew Charlie from the Cedar Grove VFW, he was WWII and I was Korea. He was a man of his word. I love talking to him, he was always a straight shooter.

Charley was a true classic, I mean that best way possible. Charley and my Dad Paul D'Ascensio grew up together in Newark and went to school together. Our paths would cross in Verona and Cedar Grove unfortunately not often enough. When he found that my Dad had died in 2011, he came to Schook's the morning of the Funeral. He said that he needed to say goodbye to his old friend. The world is better place because of Charley and men like him.
