Susan was a dear friend that we loved very much. She was there for us many times over the years that our son was at CHKD. It always helped to know she was there. She was a special nurse and we will miss her. We were so glad to get to see her before she moved to Connecticut. Our prayers are with you Scrapper.

Susan was always an inspiration to people as a nurse and a person batlling deadly diseases over and over and over- without a complaint. Truly inspiring to be around her. Susan's presence has been missed here in Norfolk.

I was sad to hear of Susan's passing - she was always there for my family. My memories go back to when we were kids - all the cousins - the picnics at Gramma's house, Christmas visits - so many memories of Uncle Al, Aunt Ethel, Susan and Jack. All the cousins have long ago gone their separate ways, living their own lives, but when I think of them I think of them as kids. It's hard to believe that one of the cousins is no longer with us. I will see Susan one day when I get to heaven and I look forward to that.

Susan was an inspiration to all nurses. She was such an amazing woman. She taught us all so much especially about being a patient advocate. Susan treated her patients as a whole. I watched so many weekend and after hour visits to her patients. They were such a big part of her life and they knew she would be there for them and their families. I have so many beautiful memories to cherish of her. Thank you for all of your dedication. She was admired by all. I know you are above being greeted by all of those lives that you touched and made such a difference in. I will miss you and I thank you for all you have done for me. Until we meet again my dear friend.

Susan is one of the finest people and nurses I have ever met! She taught me so much over the years of knowing her as I worked with her in several capacities. She has touched so many lives! She was one of the best mentors I have had! May she find peace in the hands of our Father.

Susan was a lover of fine things...Victorian furniture, Portmeirion China, Vera Bradley purses and good food! (Although she used too much pepper for my taste!) She loved organization and order. (she reorganized my pantry and silverware drawer several times...both hopeless tasks. Her favorite color for clothes was navy blue. Her taste was very traditional. Her very favorite place was Martha's Vineyard and I was lucky enough to have her show me around several years ago. Most of all Susan was a smart and hard working Nurse who loved her patients and their families and was a fierce fighter when she felt something wasn't right for them. She loved to keep in touch with family and friends with beautiful hand written cards and notes. She was always thoughtful. She fought cancer for many years with a matter of fact, single minded determination. I am sure it was much harder than she let on. Her loss will be felt by many. RIP Susan You have touched so many lives, you will not be forgotten.
