Margarita L. Sena, 92, a longtime resident of Las Vegas passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 in Albuquerque.
She was born on March 2, 1922 in Rociada to the home of Florencio Lucero and Carlota Sanchez Lucero.
She was a member of Legion of Mary, the third order of St. Francis. She worked for Jayval Parachute Factory and the New Mexico State Hospital. She was a foster grandparent for the past 22 years. She enjoyed caring and spending time with her "Angels."
A lifetime Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florencio and Carlota Lucero; husband, Filadelfio J. Sena; daughters, Mary Sena, Consuelo Sena, Christina Sena, and Fidelia Sena; brother, Cornelio Lucero; sister, Matilda Lucero; sister, Trinidad Marquez; grandson, Jose Raul Sena; granddaughter, Patricia Sanchez; brother, Marino Joe Lucero; and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sons and daughters, Leroy Sena and wife, Gloria, of Lakewood, Calif., Rita Varela and husband, Patricio, of Las Vegas, Jean Van Pelt and husband, Kurt, of Albuquerque, Gloria Pacheco and husband, Larry, of Tecolote, Manuel Sena and wife, Mary Martha, of Albuquerque; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Francis Aragon of California, Angie Lucero of Montezuma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, special friends, Amador and Josie Gonzales and family, and many friends.
Rosary Services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Friday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant.
Interment will follow at San Jose Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Gerard Casillas, Stephen Sena, Ramon Bustos, Henry Jo Garcia, Christopher Varela and Gregory Lopez. Serving as honorary bearers will be: Mario Jaramillo and Rosalinda Jaramillo.
